Do The Popular Neuro Drinks Actually Work? (Review)

by Style & Wisdom

We're sort of obsessed with Neuro Drinks here at Style & Wisdom. I first saw them in the grocery store (Market District is the only store I've seen selling them in Pittsburgh) and I was drawn in by the different colors and unique shape of the bottle, and the bold names of each one. We mentioned NeuroSun in a blog post recently about how to beat the winter blues (you can read it here), but now, we're going to take some time to explain each of the seven drinks from the Neuro brand.  Each drink comes with a major claim as to what it can do for your mind and body, but do they really work?  I wasn't entirely sure when I tried them, but was happy to find out that they do actually live up to their claims.  And, they all taste really delightful.

First off, let's talk about what each one claims to do.  There are seven drinks: NeuroBliss, NeuroSun, NeuroPassion, NeuroTrim, NeuroSonic, NeuroSleep, and NeuroSport. NeuroBliss promotes happiness while helping to eliminate stress, NeuroSun provides your entire daily dose of Vitamin D (1,000 IUs) without the harmful rays of the sun, NeuroPassion stimulates blood flow to the body, NeuroTrim promotes weightloss with a unique fiber ingredient that makes you feel full, NeuroSonic increases mental alertness and concentration, NeuroSleep promotes restful sleep by using Melatonin, and finally, NeuroSport repelenishes the body during and after exercise with a combination of 12 minerals and 5 electrolytes.

So, the big question here is do they work? I'm going to go through my personal three favorites and one that is too strong for me, because these are the ones that I would be using most frequently and can fill you in on how they work, if they work for my lifestyle, and if I like the taste. My personal favorite is the NeuroBliss.  I actually do feel calmer while drinking it, and for a stressful day at the office, or a day of phone calls, emails, and writing all day long, I think it is a very useful product. It's a better alternative than drinking coffee all day long or dreaming about Happy Hour after work, which isn't always a healthy way to cure work stress.  I love how these drinks are somewhat fizzy, but not nearly as carbonated as soda. It's almost like you're drinking a drink from the future (like, something that Charlize Theron would be drinking in Aeon Flux).   NeuroBliss has a very light, sweet taste to it, which isn't overpowering and makes it very relaxing. They have a really nice calming effect that, in my opinion, is great for winding down at the end of the day, or drinking before a stressful phone conference, or something of that nature.

Another favorite of mine is the NeuroSun, which isn't carbonated like the NeuroBliss and the NeuroSonic, which I will mention soon.  The taste of the drink sort of channels tanning lotion (or a day at the beach of drinking Pina Coladas) but tastes really good at the same time. It's very tropical. For gloomy days in the winter, I think this drink is a perfect midday boost if you're feeling like you're never going to escape the winter.

My final favorite from the line is NeuroSonic.  I'm a total fan of coffee because I think it helps me to tackle crazy days early in the morning, but it makes me crash and is REALLY heavy.  NeuroSonic does the same thing, but without the heaviness of coffee and the crash that occurs after a few cups.  I think this would be perfect for someone in college who had to take a final exam, which I think is what the company had in mind when creating it.  It really helps me to focus on my work and, as I mentioned, tackle my work.

NeuroSleep is a really powerful drink that will make you sleepy. Since it does work, be ready to sleep when you drink it. It doesn't help you relax, it actually helps you fall asleep. I wanted to see what it tasted like early in the morning and found myself sort of out of it because it contains melatonin (which I have personally never liked.) The melatonin in it does make you ready to go to sleep, but if you don't like the effects of melatonin on your body ( I know that I get strange nightmares when I take it), I would keep that in mind.  If you are a total fan of melatonin and take it before bed already, this is totally your drink.  I do love the taste, though, it has sort of a light fruity taste to it.

I wanted to talk about my favorites, or my personal system (NeuroBliss, NeuroSonic, and NeuroSun) from the Neuro brand because I want everyone to be inspired to go find out what their personal system is with these drinks. Oddly enough, my three favorites are a recommended combination from the brand, which they refer to as the Workaholic system.  How ironic?!  I think these are a really fun alternative to the unhealthy carbonated drinks on the market, like soda and energy drinks.  I personally love them because all of their claims are achieved with vitamins and minerals, rather than unhealthy and chemical ingredients like those found in some of the energy drinks and sodas on the market.

Right now (from Feb 13 to Feb 29), since Neuro is an official sponsor of the Elton John Oscars party, they will donate $1 for every person who uploads a photo of their personal system to the Neuro Facebook page. Each dollar will be donated to the Elton John Aids Foundation to help upgrade the lives of those affected by HIV/Aids.

  1. I highly doubt that any of these work. I think of it more as a placebo rather than an actual working product. What ever you 'think' will happen actually does and it's just caused by the brain.

    3. If you get the desired result because of a placebo does it really matter? Technically it gets the job done. I personally don't care if it is a placebo effect if I feel the way desired from the one I get. I only went to this site for mere curiosity.

    4. At $2 a pop, who cares? To me, that's cheaper than many OTC drugs for similar effects, and is even cheaper than homeopathic tablets, which are the same thing. ( homeopathic tablets are frigging placebos... anyone who says that a little sugar pill that's been diluted a billion times normal strength can actually have any real effect on the body other than the placebo effect is out of their ever-loving minds)

They should at least be a little more likely to work than sugar pills, and even if they are only placebos, so what? As long as they work... even if it's only the placebo effect.

Perhaps we should be relieve if they aren't effective... after all, usually anything strong enough to actually be effect also has nasty side-effects.

    5. Neurosleep has a very very small amount of melatonin in it. Buy a bottle for like $10. If your "insomnia" can be controlled by a tiny amount of melatonin, consider yourself very very lucky ;)

    6. I've taken melatonin in many forms. Neuro sleep is nothing like it. This stuff knocks me out cold.

    7. To anyone who does not get it. These were developed by people who took OTC herbs and chemicals and made the drink for you.

Of course neuro sleep works...it has melatonin in it.
of course neuro bliss works...it has chamomile in it.
These are a great alternative to those who hang around herbal stores
or a vitamin shoppe. They work just as well as concoctions you would make from ingredients you buy there.

  4. NeuroSleep is definitely not a placebo, I am an ultimate skeptic of anything sleep related... Just had one about ten minutes ago... drowsy as hell... not even the giant spider i just found in my bed startled me.

  5. I've only tried the Neurosleep so far. I sleep great through out the night. Before trying Neurosleep I would fall asleep fast but wake in a few hours and then couldnt fall back to sleep. Since drinking Neurosleep I have actually been sleeping the whole night. If its all in my mind about drinking it, so be it. Hey Im sleeping

  6. If a placebo really worked, wouldn't a sugar pill be the answer for every incureable disease.

I drink Neuro Sun. I highly doubt that my body is only absorbing the Vit. D because I know I'm drinking it. The flip side is: If someone slipped it to me, without my knowledge, would my body reject the Vit.D?

  7. I just happened to see Neurosleep at the grocery store with bottled water. I'm normally active, but had foot surgery & can't get around much. Was afraid of not sleeping well, so I tried it. Only take 3 gulps every night at bedtime & I sleep soundly all night! I agree about the strange dreams though. Great product that is not a placebo!

  8. It is not a placebo, I have a hyper active 6 year old and trust me, placebo has not effect on him, but this drink, wow, he is finally getting a good nights' sleep!

  24. Neuro Sleep really does the trick when I need a quick nap. The first time I tried it I was really skeptical on whether or not a drink could drug me up enough to sleep, ever since I was little I wasn't a big nap person especially in a moving vehicle. The first time I tried neuro sleep I was on a long road trip with my family and we woke up really early and stayed in the car for over 7 hours! On this trip I saw this neat little drink for the first time and ended up trying it and get this... I passed out. I slept for a good hour I woke only cause my father was trying to take pictures of me to make fun of me later. So I took another big gulp of it and conked out again. I now use it to sleep better and it makes me feel more rested.

  25. I was in a severe car accident (rear ended at a stop light at approximately 50 mph) and the pain was keeping me awake. My husband suggested I try the orange sleeping flavor. I slept for the first time in 2 weeks. It really does work differently.

  26. I'm not a believer of these drinks either. That is until I drank some of the Neurosleep. Was ready to KO in 5 minutes. It does work.

  27. Neuro Bliss works , I think it really depends on your bodies tolerances and maybe weight could be a factor as well.(I am 5'5 110 lbs, female) I was definitely more calm and less stressed after trying them for a few days but, after a week of having one of them a day I noticed I needed more of the drink to have the same effect as before. So I took a few days off from drinking them and now only have one when I am really crabby.I also noticed I was having more patience or maybe from the lack of stress my mind was understanding things more quickly. I don't think they are a placebo because chamomile is something that can relax you pretty well, you can research the ingredients and learn about them for yourself.

  28. I LOVE Neuro Bliss! I did some research on L-Theanine when I saw it in an article on Exercise for Men Only, so I bought a bottle of those tablets. They really work, but when I found out that the ingredient is also in Neuro Bliss, I picked me up a bottle to see the effects. I started feeling carefree yet alert. I was truly blissful. This, by far, is my favorite Neuro drink.

  29. i drank a bottle of neuro sleep last night and woke up at 2:30 AM having a panic attack.. i do have anxiety which i take medication for but i have taken melatonin in the past to help with sleep per my psychiatrist's suggestion. not sure if the two are connected, but it was a terrible experience.

  30. well...I like many here was pretty skeptical about the sleep version of theses drinks.I have awful insomnia and have tried a lot of things for it some work, some don't. Tylenol pm will do the trick usually, natural stuff like valerian root don't help at all. The peoblem with tylenol pm is tolerance builds fast and tylenol can be bad for your liver. I saw this stuff at the gas station a few monyhs back and thought "yeah, right. What a scam." I was WRONG. I bought a bottle on a somewhat desperate whim and an happy I did. It works. It is that simple. I can't attest to the other kinds but the sleep formula will help you sleep.

  31. I LOVE these drinks! I seriously drink about 3/day. Other than that, I drink water. I truly believe them to work and if it's a placebo affect, I couldn't care less. They're so much better for you than sodas or alcohol. I used to drink wine to wind down and Mt Dew to amp up. No more! And so many people are so deficient in Vitamin D and that leads to a whole slew of issues. Really... if you're thinking about trying these, DO! I doubt you'll be sorry.

  32. FYI vitamins and minerals ARE chemicals. Bio 101 bra

  33. I love the neuro drinks. I enjoy the taste. The neuro sonic helps me focus and I have no crash or jitters like I do with energy drinks. As far as Neurosleep and Neurobliss they didn't really calm me. After drinking the sleep one I still stayed awake for 3+ hours. But I'm anxious person by nature. Still I like them but I don't believe the lofty claims they make. Just think they taste good and the sonic is a good alternative to energy drinks, soda or coffee.

  34. Drank one tonight for the first time, the first thing I noticed was the overwhelmingly artificially sweetened taste. It made it tough to go down. I cannot see myself putting myself through that nightly or a few nights a week for the promise of a nights sleep. As a matter of fact, the taste was so unpleasant that it woke me back up from my drowsy state. Another snake oil remedy with hopeful promses and enticing solutions.

  35. melatonin is safe for children in small doses! My doctor recommends it for my son who is extremely hyper, he was diagnosed ADHD, Aspergers. He gets about 2-5mg once in a while when he has a rough day. I'm not sure I would use this product though, it seems stronger than the recommended dose for an adult, never mind a child. I do love these drinks for myself though! Good stuff

  36. Dig this: "As a matter of fact, the taste was so unpleasant that it woke me back up from my drowsy state." What a whiner. I'll bet rainy days make you pout.

What I think is that this whole review is a paid advertisement. There is a link to neuro's Facebook page at the end. :-)

  37. I had a horrible nightmare last night. It left me with a disturbed feeling.. I just remembered I downed the sleepy juice one.. anyone else experience nightmares? Btw..I tend to remember my dreams and can honestly say it has been decades since I had any type of nightmare!

  38. I stumbled across neuro sleep at the local drugstore, in the cooler with the vitamin water, etc, and thought, since I was already taking melatonin, that I would try this. I work as a relief for three shifts, and work all 3 shifts in a 7 day period, so it makes it a little hard to get to sleep when I know that I know need to. I drank my first bottle on my way home from work, knowing that I had to do a turnaround and be back at work in 8 hours. I went to sleep! Slept good, awoke refreshed, with no "medicine hangover". Not believing my results, I tested it again on the next turnaround day, and it worked! I like the tangerine flavor, and am very happy with the slight carbonation! All in all, I love it! I had been trying small doses of Melatonin, and got different results with each attempt. I also picked up some Neuro Bliss the other day, and plan on trying it over the weekend.

  39. I used to have pill bottles thrown at me for anxiety and PTSD. I became addicted to Ativan. I am so happy that I can now live pill free and sleep with Neuro Sleep. I was a mess on those meds!
