Blake Lively Talks Savages & Refusing To Let Someone Style Her in the July Issue of Marie Claire

Okay, we all know Blake Lively is one of those natural beauties who could probably wear sweatpants on a red carpet and she'd still make the Best Dressed lists, but in the July issue of Marie Claire, the Gossip Girl star says she refuses to have a personal stylist! She does her own makeup, hair, and styles herself.  Granted, she gets dolled up at work every day on the set of Gossip Girl, so she probably gets the insider secrets on the regular, however, in Hollywood, this is sort of noble.  You've seen how famous celebrity stylists are (and how stressful they get when styling for major red carpets), so to pick out what you're wearing shows a little bit of personality in a town where personality often needs to be cleared with someone else before showing it off. In the issue, Blake Lively also chats about her upcoming film, Savages, which is much darker than her role as Serena on GG.  We personally love Blake Lively because not only is she gorgeous and down to earth, but she can play a drug addict criminal and a NYC socialite with the same amount of ease.  We first saw her play a darker role in The Town, which is predicted to be a lighter role than what she's up to in Oliver Stone's SavagesYeah, yeah, we get it, Blake Lively.  You're a natural beauty with TONS of talent.  Check out a few highlights of the interview (with Nina Garcia, we might add) below! The issue hits newstands on July 19 and you can catch Savages in theaters on July 6.

Lively on her choice to not have a personal stylist: "My assistant will call fashion houses for me, but I always pick the outfit, shoes, jewelry, and a lot of times I do my own hair and makeup for events. Sometimes I think, God, why do I do this to myself? It's so much extra work!...I love fashion. It's such an expression of self. I often see people and they look great, but I can identify who styled them. Every stylist has a signature. Maybe it sounds jerky, but I'm lucky to be on such a fashion-centric show [Gossip Girl]. There's no designer I don't have access to."

On how different she is from her character on Gossip Girl, Serena: "People like to draw parallels between my life and the scandalous stories on Gossip Girl. I dress the same as my character, so they think, 'She lives this life on and off set. I recently shared how many boyfriends I've had [four] and people were like, 'That's impossible!' But, it's true. I've been with very few people. If I'm not with somebody who really excites or inspires me, then I'd rather be myself.
