Remembering Nora Ephron

by Sarah Davis

"Whatever you choose, however many roads you travel, I hope that you choose not to be lady.  I hope you will find some way to break the rules and make a little trouble out there. And I also hope that you will choose to make some of that trouble on behalf of women."- Nora Ephron

"Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim."- Nora Ephron

Writer-filmer Nora Ephron died at age 71 this past week of leukemia.  An iconic and legendary writer, she will be remembered as a top journalist (who wrote for Esquire and the New York Post), best selling author, and a female filmwriter who paved the road for female writers (and women in the film industry) with movies like When Harry Met Sally, Julie & Julia, Sleepless in Seattle, and You've Got Mail.  She was a writer who did it all, from magazine writing, to interviewing, to writing novels, to writing screenplays. Hilarious, honest, and sharp-witted, she will be remembered for her many writing pursuits, movies, and humorous take on the world. She will be remembered as inspiration for female writers everywhere (for me, in particular.)
