Up until now, my "Posh Mama, Zen Baby" blogs have been all about my pregnancy, but now that I have a baby, I can write all about my favorite "mommy" products. When you have a baby, you'll soon realize that certain things work and certain things don't work (like cheap diapers). So, I am so excited to get started! First up, you need a diaper bag with a changing pad.
After I had Noah, I learned right off the bat that if you leave the house with the baby, you need a few things: your boobs (luckily they are attached to your body) and plenty of extra diapers. That's where a cute & feminine diaper bag comes in handy!
Pink Lining was kind enough to send me a Yummy Mummy diaper bag, which I am completely in love with. When I first came across these bags, I was scared to get one for myself because they are SO feminine (which is what I loved about them) and I was having a boy. However, company’s mantra is to provide something special for the mother, since so much focus will be on the baby, so I was drawn to this diaper bag with a purple & lavender color scheme. I love having a bag that fits my personality, instead of my baby’s. After all, I am the one who has to tote it around and he will never remember it!
The bag that I have is the Yummy Mummy bag in Dragonfly & Thistle. Everything about it is perfect for changing diapers on the go- there are compartments for storing everything from diapers to bottles. But, my favorite part of this bag is the changing pad- it is almost just as sturdy as the changing pad on his actual changing table so when I’m out and about, I can change a diaper with just as much ease as when I’m at home.
Diaper Bag Essentials:
Diapers- This might be obvious, but I always have about five diapers with me in the diaper bag. Let's talk about which brand diapers are the best for a moment because before I had a baby, I thought I would buy the generic brand diapers to save money since you go through so many. But, I must say that after trying out a few brands over the past two months, I've learned that Pampers are the best diapers! Plus, not all brands work well with boy babies, or at least my baby, as sometimes he manages to pee right out of his diaper if he's not wearing a Pampers diaper. So, we just suck it up and spend the extra few dollars to get brand name diapers.
Changing Pad- If your bag doesn't come with a diaper bag, or you are just using a purse, get yourself a changing pad. It's easy to clean and provides a comfortable surface for baby if you're out and about.
A bottle of breastmilk or formula that is ready to go- I don't know about all babies, but if I leave the house with Noah, I have to have a "snack" for him that is ready to go.

Scented Diaper Disposal Bags- I got these as a gift at my baby shower and I love them. I love to use them if I'm out and about because I think it's rude to toss a dirty diaper into someone's garbage can. I have the Munchkin Arm & Hammer bags that come in a dispenser that I have clipped right onto the handle of the diaper bag. You can find these at Target.
