An Affirmation for Anxiety

by Sarah
A few years back, I took a leap of faith and left my job to start this blog. It was very rocky, financially and emotionally, and I was plagued with anxiety. If you read my blog, you probably know that I battled anxiety for most of my teen years and basically up until this time (from having a speech disorder). So, taking a leap of faith, naturally, was bound to come with heavy anxiety. Had I made the right choice? What was I doing? Am I doomed to be a failure? Are people laughing at me?

These were some of the destructive thoughts my mind allowed in.

One day, I was praying for spiritual “rest”, we’ll call it.  And, an affirmation popped into my head. In this moment, I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

It wasn’t an instant cure to my anxiety. But, I knew my anxiety was happening because I was not trusting that everything was okay, even if it didn’t appear to be.  Rather, I was choosing to trust my fears.  Honestly, once I understood this affirmation and truly absorbed it, my anxiety finally went away. It is very true that you are where you are supposed to be. Trusting that where you are at contains everything you need for the current moment is one of the major life lessons that happiness requires you to learn. In a congested & materialistic world that is chock full of trials and tribulations, this is one of the toughest things to fully get on board with, but it allows happiness in because it allows simplicity in.

Life takes you on so many journeys, and usually, they are never easy at first.  I will be the first to admit that it sucks how hard it can be sometimes.  However, if you aren’t challenging yourself and welcoming change, you aren’t growing.  And when you aren't moving along, things can get stale and it becomes much easier to let anxiety in.

It’s always important to remember that self love never involves embracing the voices inside your head that tells you that you aren’t good enough.  So, wherever you are at in this life, take a moment to reflect and trust that in this moment, you are exactly where you are supposed to be.

Ellen's Oscar Selfie Most Retweeted Tweet Ever

Ellen DeGeneres really stole the show as host of the 86th Academy Awards. In this ultimate "selfie", Ellen gathered up a few of Hollywood's biggest names to earn the title of "most retweeted" tweet ever. It was retweeted so many times, in fact, that Twitter had to temporarily shut down. Love it!
